People of the Books

Welcome and thanks for joining us in our first version of our new online book circle.  This system allows people throughout the US to order books online — and have them provided by a local, independant book-seller.  In addition, each month we will delve into a particular book, providing commentary and ways to explore further connections. 

This site includes our “think globally, act locally” method for purchasing online, while supporting local and community-based bookstores.

Our ordering system will support not only reading books to inspire us to think about our values, but also, buying our books in a way that supports our local community and sustainable economies.  Many people grapple with the balance between the convenience of shopping online, and the community-building that takes place when we support local, small bookstore owners in our area.  This book blog and reading club, by working together with the Independent Bookseller Association’s Booksense program, will make it possible to order online while supporting local stores.  When you enter the ordering system, you will be prompted to enter your zip code, so you can be matched with an area store.

When writing a novel about someone who is already so prominently discussed,  coming up with something new to say can be quite a challenge. And yet, Anne Rice has managed, using her style of writing a historical novel, which focuses on the younger years of Jesus of Nazareth, to give a new perspective and new insights.  You can click here to order.
